  1. Dear Organizer,
It is a pleasure to hear that marathon is going to be held in order to in order to promote Tourism in Helambu (Hyolmo). According to the description on this site, the marathon route only touch one part of Helambu VDC which is Timbu and it will does not included rest of the other villages, which gives me a feeling that the organizers of the marathon have neglected the main parts of the Helambu villages (Please Correct me if my feeling is wrong). In my opinion instead of starting the marathon from Melamchim pool it would be much better to start from Timbu (Village Development Committee office) touching Dhapu Singe Jhong (cave of Melarepa), Nakote, Chheri ( oldest Temple of Hyolmo), Tarkeyghyang ( Monestery of meme Surya Singi and main entrance of Hyolmo Ama Yangri), Gorchaling, Gangyol…(best route to view whole Helambu clearly) to Sermathang… Instead of calling this event Helambu marathon it could also be better if we called it Hyolmo marathon with all the routes provided in the site. I would also like to thank you all for organizing this event.Best of Luck..
    Best Wishes

Well you can find the address of the organiser on this page. Best to mail him. It IS called Hyolmo marathon – but also Helambu as many outsiders know it as such. Like Deutchland and Germany, places have different names in different places. It is only the first year, and they wanted to make organisation easier. You should suggest to Tshering. Please turn up and support on 23rd April.

  2. It gives immense pleasure to learn that 1st Beyul Hyolmo Marathon is on its way and my hearty best wishes to Nho Tshering and organizers. Actually this wasn’t the first time that Nho Tshering and other friends from Hyolmo Setang Youth Awareness Group attempted to organize the Marathon. In 2008, we had designed and attempted to organize Beyul Hyolmo Festival where the marathon event was also one of the events. Due to various circumstances we had to adjourn the program despite our tremendous efforts. Today after 3 years with full dedication of Nho Tshering and others involved in the organization of the Marathon, Beyul Hyolmo Marathon is taking place with an aim to promote indigenous Hyolmo culture and Tourism of the area. As the event is being supported by so many organizations, this will definitely be a grand success and my best wishes and prayers are with you all. I will try my best to report the event on the Nepali news papers in New York and if possible on other local news papers too. Once again best of luck and may Goddess Ama Yangri bless all of us to make this event a grand success.

  3. Congratulations on presenting a fabulous event. We are very proud of our Hyolmo friends for the hard work and dedication they show towards improving education in Nepal. It is wonderful to see Tshering organize another successful running event. We are sorry that we cannot be there for this marathon, as we were present for the Run For the Hills mini-marathon fundraiser in April 2009 and were very impressed!

Our students just returned from a trip to Helambu and all said it was a trip of a lifetime. We will be back in 2013 with another school group to continue our biannual work with Yangrima Boarding School.

Good luck with this latest venture.
